Hello,

I am looking for playtesters willing to spend "a weekend or two" on a wargame in development, 1758 Fort Carillon. I have a few physical prototypes available and a Vassal module under construction. This is not a one evening, light game, but will require perhaps a few sessions of several hours each to complete. The game is in my opinion mechanically close to its final format, but stuff like the victory conditions are unfinished (e.g. need more feedback on how the game flows as it is now). I thought it was getting ready one year ago, but here I am...

My previous batch of testers (UK, US, etc.) - to whom I mailed protos at great expense - mostly failed to do more than share a picture or two in social media. Actually, just one person in Canada put the game on the table and played (and provided good feedback too!). As said, I am more than happy to deliver a copy if you think you can spend time on it, but don't expect a totally fluid experience.

Carillon is a pretty traditional hex and counter game but the non-phasing (inactive) player has some options to react to the phasing player's actions, due to the compromises I had to make. A full turn is one day and it is divided into three 8 hour phases where the action is. Scale otherwise is ~100 men per strength point and ~200 meters per hex. There are some 30 pages of rules + half-ready scenarios + charts and tables. The physical protos are near-final quality but do contain errors and are getting a bit out of date.

If you have not yet heard of this project on other forums, such as Facebook groups, you'll find some info here:
BGG page (rare updates)
FB group
Blog (tutorial walkthroughs, updates, and general babbling)

The FB group has a link to the latest available rules and other required material, so if you are interested, please join and take a look. If you don't use FB, leave a comment here and we will figure something out.

Tack!

Mikko

PS Your name will be printed on the rulebook for all the world to cherish (but only if you walk the talk)!

That is a really good looking prototype!
My hat is off to your effort.

Unfortunately my time with a two year old at home is much to limited right now to be able to do a true effort as a play tester though.

Thank you, I'd say hats off to you if you play any wargames / tabletops with a two year old at home!
