In worldwide preview for Krigsspel, a few units from one of the most interesting Roman client states: Numidia!



Unit name in red: If the client state decides to Align with a Faction, these units are its initial contribution to the Faction's cause. The rest will be available only if the Client State is Activated by specific military or political events.

Numidian Heavy Infantry (HI): King Juba's attempt to emulate the Roman legions organisation and equipment. Their quality and reliability was probably not good: they didn't fight well at the battle of Bagradas under Saburra, and according to most sources didn't fight at all at Thapsus under Juba.

I was going to an autotranslated version, but if you have the time and will to create an English version, that's better for sure!

Thanks Fabrizio. I'm very impressed you persisted reading the replay by computer translation (unless your Swedish is better than I knew). You are of course correct - based on the scenario victory conditions WP actually won. But I was curious to see how far the WP could advance with maximum NATO presence. As always with your creations - a very enjoyable experience.

My Swedish is at the same level of my Aramaic, that is zero, but the auto translation is actually not bad...I think!

Then it must be said that WP was incredibly unfluent on a number of critical combat moves in the opening. It's a real challenge for WP to emerge victorious from this scenario, but it's probably not impossible for a better general than me.

Regarding the outcome, have you checked the victory conditions as they are quite tricky...

In short, the scenario postulates that the main attack is against NORTHAG, so the WP objectives in the Fulda sector are not a big breakthrough but instead:
1. Inflict losses on CENTAG forces.
2. Pin US V Corps in place, and prevent CENTAG from sending reinforcements to NORTHAG.

If NATO does not send reinforcements to NORTHAG, it has practically already lost. Warsaw Pact could reach its goal by conquering some not particularly spectacular geographical objective, and inflicting decent losses on NATO aircraft and helicopters.

På eftermiddagen utkämpas slaget vid Wolfenbüttel, där de hårdaste striderna hittills äger rum. Först gör ryssarna ett försök att utflankera försvararna med ett anfall direkt över floden (4517 till 4416, medan 4516 ännu hålles av Nato). Attacken slås tillbaka med förluster på bägge sidor. Sedan gör man upprepade anfall mot huvudpositionen där de två trötta pansarbataljonerna biter ifrån sig. Till slut retirerar de över floden efter ytterligare förluster för bägge sidor.



För närvarande är det en Natoseger, men det är två omgångar kvar, och Nato måste undvika a) att ryssen får enheter över floden, b) att han tar Braunschweig och c) att få enheter utplånade. Braunschweig är just nu inte hotat, men det blir svårt att undvika både a och c. De enheter som står väster om floden är samtliga i extremt dåligt skick och skulle behöva avlösas, men det finns ingen som kan avlösa dem.

My bet is on the Soviets, if they have enough artillery ammo left

As I'm always saying, we're a very small publishing company with limited resources and time.....and don't forget we print our games without asking a single penny in advance.
