Years ago I used to play a game called Operation Flashpoint. When that game hit the market it made all other shooters obsolete. Even if it actually was not a shooter (traditional) itself it had all the action a "shooter" game has and MORE. Free roaming world, all vehicles you can think of and ofcourse, all the weaponry. With its followup Red Hammer and Resistance it grew even bigger. I still remember the first action scene where the russians come driving up to the farm to have some "fun" with the locals. You manage to get your hands on a shotgun and the story spins of from there and you start your own guerilla war.

Already then (2000?) there where alot of talk about OPF 2.

And now, 10 years later it arrives. And what a game it is. It does have all the stuff from the original game that made it just great. AND it adds on alot more. Great graphics, squad control, artillery requests. And they kept the possibility for COOP missions.

Ofcourse there are some bugs and AI problems. AI problems both from your team members and the enemy. However I am sure most of these will be fixed over time, also I mostly play COOP missions so my team members can think for themself so I dont find it to be a big problem.

BUT

A campaign of 13 missions played in less than 6 hours? That is way to short. I would say it should have been atleast twice as big. I play this on PS3 and I do know there will be DLC arriving next month. But I still think the original game should have atleast a day of playtime in the campaign.

And the Scenario editor, where is it? They added it to the PC and maybe maybe they will add it as DLC to the consoles. I hope....

Dont get me wrong. If you love action when it is as "real" as it can be without getting a bullet in your own head this is the game. Choose the wrong approch and you will get hit and you will most likely have to restart. Assaulting a hill held by dug in chinese forces using flankmanouver, artillery, smoke and supressing fire in this game gives you the chill.

Now why am I bothering to write this in english. Well, I was surprised to find Mr Lee Brimmicombe-Wood as "Chief Game Designer".

Notera att den "riktiga" uppföljaren till OPF av Bohemia Interactive är Armed Assault. Det spel som har titeln OPF2 är gjort av ett annat företag med rättigheterna till titeln.

Operator: "Recoil"

Now Playing: Ftf - World In Flames, pbem - Here I Stand, Age of Renaissance
