Gissa vad som just trillade ner i brevlådans sans tull och allt. I och för sig var det ett gratisex då jag speltestat det en hel del, men hade helt missat att det var på gång.

Spelet ser mycket trevligt ut, så skall bli skoj att testa det live. Gillar man Hannibal eller liknande lite "enklare" CDGs kommer man att troligtvis även gilla detta.

Har äntligen fått spela det ftf, riktigt skoj, lätt att lära sig reglerna men svårt att spela på rätt sätt (det vill säga knappt slåss alls).

I think that's part of the brilliance of the game. Not that you don't fight but you must do so judiciously. Also that you must sometime try to persuade the enemy to fight. It's a cautious kind of death-dance.

Charles Vasey wrote a superb article in Perfidious Albion a few years back about Pre-Industrial Games (PIGS). He pointed out that a common flaw in these games was that they encouraged players to build big killer stacks and go off to pound the enemy. He asked 'Why didn't they do this in history?' I think UKC captures some of the answers. Not just that armies in the field tend to rot away, but that battle is perilous, it often goes to the bigger battalions, and that if an enemy that doesn't want to fight it is difficult to bring them to battle.

Great, I will suggest it to Thomas then. I´m sure he can be enticed to take an interest in the Civil wars, at least he enjoyed the stories about Prince Ruperts dog I told him (http://www.poodlehistory.org/PARMY.HTM). I don´t own the game but the rules are available online so I´ll read them. Play on a Sunday sometime in june?
