More complex!? I dare not think about where you could go from adding more details to a game with 2 hour turns for 12 seconds in-game.

I went on BGG to read up on this and discovered that Birds of Prey is actually based on Websters system.
Reporter: "What do you feel when you kill an insurgent?"
Operator: "Recoil"

Now Playing: Ftf - World In Flames, pbem - Here I Stand, Age of Renaissance

Not really, though J.D. has been involved in the project at various stages.

Do you spend 2 hours / turn for (simple) dogfights?
It's really not that complex...

CiteraIsn't this the game that P-O has been trying ot learn for two years now? Seems he read two pages and then meditates on them foor weeks and weeks.
Think it is one year now. I know the quick start rules quite good by now, after having rerad them 3 or 4 times. I will play Whistling Death one day though, with the full set of rules!

Citat från: "Vvornth"Shat kind of complexity are we talking about, on the level of Speed of Heat and such?

I'd say much more complex. A far better model, but a lot more process.

How does complexity compare with Air War?

Besides, any game with a fully loaded F-15 on the cover is a must have!    8)

Mode, are you near the Air Force Museum? If so, shall we plan to meet up when it reopens next summer?

Yes, I live about a mile from the museum. Our local IPMS chapter (IPMS Östergötland) holds regular meetings on the last sunday of each month at the museum, but since it is closed until June 2010 we have temporarily relocated to Norrköping. I expect that regular meetings at the museum will recommence next autumn - the museum staff like us, for some reason.   :)

I would very much like to meet you, since air games are among my prime wargame interests. I will be attending the C4 Open scale model show in Malmö on October 24 -25, perhaps we can meet then?

Possibly, Göran. My new bosses are threatening to send me to Montreal for a week in mid-October. I currently don't have any dates or itinerary for that trip, but if I'm in Sweden on those dates we should certainly get together. Also I'd love to see the show.

I used to be able to handle about six to eight a/c (plus missiles) in Air War so I've taken a chance and ordered the game. It will be interesting to compare with the Air Power series - a lot has happened since the 1980's.

Perhaps I should dust off my copy of Shaw's Fighter Combat book while I wait for the game to arrive ...

I recall demoing an earlier version of the game to Bob Shaw. He was very interested in what we were doing. Nice chap.
