Hi All,
I am sure we have no lack of experts here

What would be your top 3 recommendations for .....

A 4 player Wargame. or one which works with 4, whether or not designed for it.
the 4 can be in 2 teams of 2 also as long as the game is still fun for all.

Playable in maximum 8-12 hours.

As my playgroup is always between 3-4 players we have played the following games as team play:
--Wellington
--Kutuzov

I think that Napoleonic Wars, Successors also can be played in teams, but I haven't played them yet.
But they are all CDG games.

Hmm.. 4 players at 8-12 hours. Had you said 5 or 6 players the list would look completely different. But with that criteria my list will probably look very different from others:

War of The Ring
A Game of Thrones

Successors 3rd edition works great with 4 players as do Sword of Rome if you enjoy CDGs.

StarCraft and similar games should work well too but that depens on how you define wargame.
