Hur gick det historiskt?

Från Wikipedia (med alla de fel som kan finnas där)

The Battle of Wimpfen was a battle in the Bohemian Revolt period of the Thirty Years' War on 6 May 1622 near Wimpfen. The forces of the Holy Roman Empire and Catholic League under Marshal Tilly and Gonzalo de Córdoba defeated the Protestant forces of General Ernst von Mansfeld and Georg Friedrich, Margrave of Baden-Durlach.

After the fall of the Bohemian capital of Prague following the Battle of White Mountain, Georg Friedrich decided to continue the battle and oppose Tilly and Cordoba at Wimpfen.

By early May, the forces of Christian of Brunswick had arrived to the north of the Neckar River and were prepared to assist the Protestant forces. This came as good news to the combined forces of Mansfeld and Georg Friedrich, who hoped to combine their armies before risking a major battle.

To gain time and to attempt to split the combined Catholic army, Mansfeld crossed the Neckar near Heidelberg while Georg Friedrich marched east up the river to cross at Wimpfen. The plan failed as the troops under Tilly and Córdoba did not split and instead pursued the 14,000 strong army of Georg Friedrich and cut him off near Wimpfen. Outnumbered, the margrave deployed his troops into a defensive position on a low hill outside of the village. Here the Protestants made an effective stand, rallied by a strong artillery position until a random Spanish countershot exploded the Protestant magazine, costing the Badeners their position. The Catholics drove the hill and shattered the Protestant army. Georg then fled to Stuttgart with but a few remaining men under his command.

Meanwhile, Mansfeld was hurriedly trying to meet up with Christian who was positioned at the Main; Córdoba and Tilly were in hot pursuit to keep this junction from occurring.

Kul arbetsgivare... Verkligen personalinriktad!

Game turn 1:
The catholic Avant garde enters. And take some fire from the protestant guns with little effect. Knyphausen decides to stay put and fight.
Saxe-Weimar and especially Christian are happy with waiting and letting time pass and seeing the wagons roll by.

Game turn 2:
The catholic Avant garde attacks and manages two continuations. The LI is used to pin Knyphausens center but takes heavy casualties even if they capture the guns.  The Hi outflanks Knyphausen but one protestant LI actually repulses a HI attack!
The catholic cavalry arrives behind the avant garde and deploys to the right of it (from a catholic perspective).
Knyphausen adjust his positions but intend to fight it out.
Saxe-Weimar and especially Christian are happy with waiting and letting time pass and seeing the wagons roll by.

The catholic avant garde reforms for a new attack while the cavalry moves to outflank Knyphausen while it also attacks a LI in the left center (contradiction perhaps?) and drives it from the ditch. The main body of the infantry appears and deploys for attack.

The catholic cavalry wipes out the recistance on the left and will soon go after the wagons. After they reform that is. The avant garde and the main body both attack Knyphausens HI but they put up a stiff fight and after several continuations they are still locked in combat. And while this happens the wagon train rolls on as the pic below shows.

Knyphausens troops are overflanked on both flanks and now only one MB HI units remains along with two cavalry units that withdraw, with Knyphausen, to delay the catholic avant gardes movement. The fight has not only cost the catholics time however, a failed assault and an unfortunate deployment  that prevented retreat cost them HI Büningen detsroyed. The catholic cavalry has just reformed and will start the pursuit next.  But as the pic below shows Christian has identified the danger and advances his cavalry to intercept. And the wagon train lumbers on.

Game turn 6:

Knyphausens last HI is destroyed but it does delay the catholic main body none the less. The avant garde advances on Saxe-Weimars main body for a frontal assault while the catholic cavalry cannot change from make ready and only moves up towards the next ditch as Christian has managed to get his cavalry in position defending the ditch on the other side and linking up with Knyphausens cavalry. And the wagon train moves on...

Edit: uppdaterat lite felaktigheter i orderlägena.

Christian är under make ready, liksom katolikernas kavalleri.

Ja det hette Blutfeld innan slaget, det är plattyska och betyder inte blod som man kan tro, utan typ blottlagt eller öde.
På bordet nu: BAR, BCS och Nevsky.

Game turn 7:

Before attacking over the ditch the catholic cavalry wants to be fully reformed so they wait one more turn. The main body goes to make ready while the avant garde polishes its formations under make ready and advances thanks to a continuation. All are under make ready orders right now. Christian changes from make ready to receive charge again in his new quite strong position. All protestants are now under receive charge.

Game turn 8:

A blurry pic unfortunally. But it does show that while the catholic cavalry still waits, failed to change orders, the avant garde has slammed into the protestant main body with devastating effect. The losses to musketry do add up however and the HI are quite worn down now and partly succeed due to better morale, and partly to lucky die rolls.

Game turn 9:

The avant gardes rampage continues! They should be finished as offensive units by now having suffered more than 50% casualties, but evidently not. The catholic cavalry now manages to charge and despite charging superior high quality opponents over the ditch some success is achieved. But at a very heavy cost indeed...
