CiteraHe reminds me of Jack Radey.

A bit less hardcore communist, more populist.

At least you have socialists. The 's' word is being used less and less as a personal descriptor here in the UK. I miss it.

Hi Lee,
I am a brit who has made the move to Sweden not once but twice...
in '96 and again in '02.
If you want some advice or to bounce any questions off me then feel free.

I had it easy  I guess and moved before I had any kids so we did the 'live in a hotel room for two weeks' thingy last time we got here.

Get your company to help you get a flat as often the agencies want an assurance from a company that you are able to pay the rent.
right now in Malmö you are probably competing with the students so not easy to find places.
Dont forget that you can also live somewhere nearby e.g. Lund or Copenhagen and commute (the train services are pretty good). Denmark recently had a property price crash so maybe there are some bargains there ?
If you are selling in England and buying in Sweden you will find prices pretty low over here, in comparison at least.

Good Luck with the move !
Cheers Paul

If you ever find yourself in Gothenburg (about 2.5 hours north of Malmö) you'll want to drop me or Jonas (TinG) a lien so we can introduce you to the Ylva bunker: http://www.krigsspel.se/forum/viewtopic ... light=ylva

Seeing that brought a manly tear to my eye.

Welcome to Sweden,

We do have a couple of gamers from around Malmö/Lund on this forum. I do work in Malmö but live 20 min east. Looking forward to maybe join in for some playtesting. I have played Downtown a bunch of times and am also a bit of an Aircraft fanatic.

I am not sure I can help out with the living issue but an apartment in Malmö costs just about the same or more than a large house outside. So if you can live with taking the car or train to work you can find some great living.

Our clubroom in Stockholm might be smaller than Ylva, though we have the game racks for keeping multiple games running. One thing we do have, that Ylva is missing, though, is mouse mummies.

Hi there,

My new employer seems to be looking for a city-centre apartment for my family. We are selling the car in the UK and are expecting to get around via foot and public transport. Being city types that appeals to us!

Should we ever decide to move further out and drive in, how easy is it to find parking in Malmö?

As long as it has anything to do with airunits I can live with it.

Regarding parking it has alot to do with where in the city you work. If I do not guess wrong your work is in dead center so unless your employer has parkinglots already and you must yourself pay for it it can become an expensive affair. Between 800-1000 SEK per month if in a garage. Street parking will be even more expensive. I say use the bus/train. Malmö got a fairly good system for travelling with bus/train. You can reach Helsingborg and Kristianstad within less than 1 hour and Copenhagen is only 25 minutes away by train. You will not be stranded without a car. Unless you need to go to IKEA....But then you can call me :x

Not that difficult. There are several (but quite expensive) parking houses (is that the correct expression?) near Massive (woked in the same building as Massive 8 years ago). Though an appartment in Malmö sounds nice, so ditch other ideas about getting housing outside the city proper.

They do. But it is hard work to fit 4 Billy and a bed in it. Even harder to carry it there...
